LOST IN A MELODRAMATIC CITY

Lecture Performance
Drawing from a day in Hong Kong -October 19th 1996, the artist embark on a parallel retelling of her father's contemporary dance show, ‘Lost in a Melodramatic City’ and the passing of her maternal grandmother, both happening in the same window of time.
Through looking at relics, personal objects and documentation that these events left behind, stories from her family history unfolds into the city's collective past, mapping Hong Kong’s contemporary dance history weaving into memories mediated by television shows, radio segments and pop songs.
